Analyzing the Role of Organizational Culture in Supporting Positive Behavior Strategies: Evidence from Selected Private Universities in Nigeria
Abstract
This study investigates the impact of organizational culture on fostering positive behavior strategies in higher education institutions. Organizational culture, as a key determinant of employee behavior, shapes values, norms, and practices that promote collaboration, commitment, and constructive interactions. The research considers organizational culture dimensions—values, beliefs, norms and behaviors, symbols and rituals, and leadership and communication patterns—as independent variables, while positive behavior strategies—including change management, emotion regulation, positive thinking, and social cohesion—serve as dependent variables. A descriptive-analytical approach was applied to data collected from 218 faculty and administrative staff members of selected private universities in Nigeria. Statistical analyses confirmed a significant positive effect of organizational culture on supporting positive behavior strategies. Findings highlight the role of organizational values, norms, leadership, and communication in driving organizational change, enhancing individual behavior, managing emotions effectively, promoting positive thinking, and strengthening social cohesion among employees.
