Abstract

Abstract:
This research investigates the cultural beliefs surrounding parapsychological experiences in Sub-Saharan Africa, focusing on how these beliefs shape individual perceptions and reports of psychic phenomena. Through ethnographic studies and interviews across different communities, the study highlights the interplay between traditional beliefs and contemporary understandings of parapsychology. Key findings indicate that cultural narratives significantly influence the interpretation of psychic experiences, often framing them as spiritual or ancestral connections. The research also discusses the implications of these beliefs on mental health and community cohesion, emphasizing the need for culturally sensitive approaches in parapsychological research. By documenting diverse perspectives on psychic phenomena, this study contributes to a broader understanding of parapsychology within the context of African traditions and cultural practices, advocating for a more inclusive exploration of human consciousness.
